I am so excited that so many of you want to read in the summer! If you would like to start before July, here is your first assignment:
1. Tell me the name of the book you are reading again, and then tell me how many pages you think you want to read each week. This schedule is for you, so be realistic.
2. After you read a little bit of your book, describe:
a) 3-5 plot points (what the book is about so far)
b) the main character(s) (their personalities)
3. Post a question that someone else can respond to
4. Respond to one of your classmates
You will receive points for both posting about your book and responding to someone else's post.
Here is my example:
The book I am currently reading is called A Walk in the Woods, by Bill Bryson. The book is about a guy who decides to hike from Georgia to Maine on the Appalachian Trail. He goes through many obstacles with his friend Katz as they hike every day and sleep in the woods every night. Right now I am reading about how he is caught in a snow storm and can't see what is in front of him. At the end of the section, he and his friend decide it is too dangerous to keep hiking that day, so they find a shelter and meet a father and son who are also hiking. Together they build camp for the night and sleep through the snow storm.
Bill Bryson's character is humorous. He is a bit chicken about dying in the woods, but he is determined to continue hiking because that is his main goal. I admire him because I enjoy hiking. However, I am not sure that I could hike from Georgia to Maine. Just thinking about it makes my feet hurt!
My question for you: Has anyone ever hiked before? If so, where did you hike? Did you enjoy it?
